This parish tradition is certainly an endearing one that really helps share a deeply rooted Church tradition with the younger people of our parish. Please help offer this special interactive experience, designed especially for children 3 to 10 years old, beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 18 (Good Friday).
About Children's Stations- Guides lead small groups of families (including their own children) from Parish Hall through Weitzel Hall while setting the stage with a short story.
- Each classroom, represents one station, and has a volunteer leader who reads from a script to describe that moment of when Jesus was carrying the cross.
- Next, the leader gives the children a fun hands-on activity before the guide takes them to the next station.
Time frame for the event
Small groups are staggered every ten minutes with the first group starting at 3:30 p.m. It will take about one hour for each group to complete all stations. The last group will leave Parish Hall at 4:30 p.m. so that everyone, including the station leaders, can make it to the Tenebrae service beginning at 6 p.m. in the church.
Volunteer information
Participating as a volunteer is super simple, because all the materials and speaking points are prepared for you.Guides gather their group in Parish Hall and help them find their way to each station throughout Weitzel Hall.
Station Leaders are given all their script and hands-on activity materials. A group is at your station for about 5 to 7 minutes before they move on and another one enters. The earlier stations can leave earlier (once all groups have gotten to their room) and the later stations can arrive a little later (since it will be a little bit of time before the first group will reach them).
