This Holy Thursday, the youth ministry at St. Alphonsus Liguori will have the opportunity to help carry on a tradition that started long ago in Rome.
The occasion takes place following the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday when people would travel to the seven major basilicas to visit and pray at each location's altar of repose. This is the tabernacle where the Blessed Sacrament is kept at churches following the Mass on Holy Thursday.
On Thursday, April 5, members of the youth ministry at St. Alphonsus Liguori, along with others throughout the area, are invited on a similar pilgrimage that will take place much closer to Zionsville. This Holy Thursday, the Seven Churches Pilgrimage will take pilgrims on a journey visiting seven churches throughout Indianapolis. The group will leave by bus from St. Alphonsus following the 7 p.m. Mass that evening. Each location visited will offer an opportunity for silent reflection and prayer as students and guests travel throughout the night.
Once all churches are visited, the final stop will be to return to St. Alphonsus Liguori's Day Chapel, where the group will have another opportunity of prayer before heading home.
