"It is especially important to the Knights of Columbus that our events make a difference within our community," said Grand Knight Tim Shaw, the leading officer for the council. "From our previous involvement with Habitat for Humanity and Special Olympics, we knew that these organizations make an indelible difference in the lives of people throughout the area. When our finance committee recommended them as good beneficiaries for our charity golf tournament, it was immediately approved by our membership."
The Knights' council, in partnership with St. Alphonsus Liguori Catholic Church, has worked with Habitat for Humanity of Boone County since 2007, assisting with six home building projects in the last four years. For several years members of the Knights have also volunteered with Special Olympics Indiana - Boone County, working at various events including the recent Area 8 Spring Games held on May 14 at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis.
