It's hard to already think about leaves changing color on trees or cool autumn nights returning, but there is no better time to share exciting news about this year's Knights of Columbus' Oktoberfest and the all-new raffle drawing that will take place. The annual Oktoberfest will return on Saturday, October 8, offering an evening of entertainment as well as major support for communities one to 1,700 miles away. In addition to benefiting locally based charitable organizations, a special raffle will support villagers in Haiti - tickets are already on sale!
Haiti Raffle Ticket Sale:
While teaming up with Gift of Water, Inc., the Knights of Columbus are selling raffle tickets to raise funds for supplying some 500 water filtration systems (and extra filters) for villagers in the town of Croix Fer, Haiti.
Gift of Water. Inc., a locally based organization, changes lives and benefits the health of natives in developing countries with the simplest gift - clean water. Their operation targets communities in need, builds them water filtration systems, ships the systems to a village and provides onsite training so villagers learn how to properly use and maintain their new systems.
By purchasing a raffle ticket, participants help contribute toward an effort to send filtration systems to Croix Fer while also entering for a chance to win some major prizes.

Tickets are $25 each and include admission to this year's Oktoberfest where the prize drawing will occur. Prizes include a first place drawing of $5,000, second place of $1,500 and a third place of $750 along with a number of other items. Tickets can be purchased in the narthex following Masses the weekends of August 27-28, September 10-11 and September 24-25. Or individuals may email Mark Maucere at [email protected] to order their tickets. Raffle participants do not have to be present to win the drawing.
Why clean water?
It is estimated that 1.9 million childhood deaths occur each year in the world, along with a number of other illnesses, due to the lack of clean drinking water. Currently, villagers in Croix Fer have to either travel miles to receive water from a well, or they must use a contaminated river.
It is estimated that $25 can help out enough to supply a year's worth of clean water for one Haitian family. Help support the Haiti raffle and give a gift of clean water!
