Problems with the Bell Tower!
WHAT EXACTLY IS THE BELL TOWER AND WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT?
Structurally, the bell tower is the brick-and-mortar column that sits just under the steeple. It has a roof and extends to the ground. The steeple is a separate structure that sits on top of the bell tower.
The original roof does not properly drain rainwater or melted ice. As a result, water has infiltrated the interior of the bell tower. In addition, there are areas of disrepair in the coping segments and mortar joints.
Repairs Needed:
The roof of the bell tower (not the steeple) needs fixed to prevent further degradation of the structure and avoid safety issues. The structure is currently sound and there is no immediate safety concern.
