The children of Fatima refer to three peasant children, Francisco, Jacinta, and Lucia, who were tending to their family’s sheep in Portugal on May 13, 1917. The children, under 10 years old, were blessed with the presence of the Virgin Mary. Our Lady of Fatima (also known as Our Lady of the Rosary) continued to appear once a month, for 6 months, to the three children.
The relic in the display is a sliver of wood from the coffin of Francisco and a string from the linen cloth that covered the body of Jacinta.
