This week's featured guest is parishioner and pianist
Ann Green.
She said,
"I chose the pieces in today’s concert because they evoke feelings of peace, joy, and gratitude to God, three things we can really use at this time in our world. I hope you find some serenity in listening to these cherished hymns!"
My name is Ann Green. I have been a parishioner at St. Alphonsus Liguori for almost 13 years. I am married to Mike and we have 4 children, ages 20 to 10. At church, I am a member of the Embrace Life Ministry, the choir, am also a cantor.
Music was always very important in my life. My father and grandmother played piano by ear. When I was young, I enjoyed plinking on the old, battered army-green-painted piano in our garage and trying to teach myself how to read music from a book I found on top of that piano. My parents noticed my interest and gave me lessons for 10 years, for which I am eternally grateful.
I played organ at Sunday Mass for my home parish through high school, and the piano in my college jazz band for a stint. I also played flute through high school, college, and even in the local Zionsville band for a year or so. Many years later, now that our children are a little older, I have more free time, and am happily back into music again, this time singing in our church choir (which is completely new to me!), cantoring (another VERY big surprise because I tend toward shyness), and also taking piano and voice lessons with a nice lady music teacher in Zionsville.
