The Knights of Columbus asked us to post the following message regarding their Lenten Fish Fry...
Supply Chain Issues Strike the Saint Alphonsus Knights of Columbus Fish Fries
Parishioners and friends, those of you who attended last Friday’s Fish Fry,
Many of you noticed a difference in what we were serving, and many experienced a long wait time to be served. We are truly sorry and wanted to offer an explanation as to what happened. The supply of fish this year is scarce and prices have risen, due to our national supply chain crisis. Our suppliers assured the Knights that we would be able to receive the same product that we have been serving parishioners and friends for the past 20 years, and we felt strongly that we would host Lenten Fish Fries for the parish and community.
When our order arrived last week, our vendor made a substitution of fish without our knowledge. We sent the fish provided back and began to discuss the possibility that we might need to cancel this year’s Fish Fries. We made the decision to see if we could find a replacement supplier. We were able to find a supply of fish from another vendor that we thought was a similar product. However, the fish that was delivered resulted in longer cooking times which caused delays in delivering food to our patrons.
If you experienced a long wait time, you have our sincerest apologies. Also, many noticed the difference in taste, texture, and thickness. No one could have been more disappointed than we were at offering something less than what we would normally serve. We take a great deal of pride in serving the best fish available and we will not put anything out there again that doesn’t meet standards.
The decision to proceed will be on a week-to-week basis based on our current situation. Also, we will only have a fish fry when we can guarantee the quality and consistency of what we serve. The good news is that we have been able to secure a high-quality supply for this week’s Fish Fry and will proceed as normal.
Thank you for your patience and understanding, and again, we apologize to anyone who shares our disappointment. You have our commitment that it won’t happen again, and we look forward to seeing you Friday.
