FEATURED SPEAKER: KATHERINE WELCH, M.D.
We are honored to welcome Dr. Katherine Welch as the keynote speaker for this event. Dr. Welch, a distinguished graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine, has dedicated her career to serving oppressed, trafficked, and exploited individuals since 2000. With a wealth of experience spanning 19 years in Asia (China and Thailand) and 3 years in Germany, Dr. Welch returned to the USA in 2022.
Dr. Welch is the founder of RELENTLESS and serves as a consultant to counter-trafficking assistance programs, contributing to the development of robust and trauma-informed health components for interventions. She empowers healthcare professionals to utilize their skills in the fight against slavery, providing direct care to those suffering from physical and mental health consequences resulting from chronic trauma.
Her contributions extend to international platforms, where she served as a member of the International Organization for Migration/UNGIFT expert panel on health, contributing to the document "Caring for Trafficked Persons, Guidance for Health Providers." Dr. Welch is an active member of the European Freedom Network, the World Freedom Network, and serves as the Medical Director for Global Health Promise. Currently, she is a member of the Indiana Coalition to End Sexual Assault and Human Trafficking (ICESAHT).
