Edge Youth Ministry

WHAT IS EDGE?

Edge is a Catholic youth ministry program for middle school teens that provides a safe place where students can have fun, grow in community, learn about their faith, and encounter Christ in a personal way. Middle school is often tough for many students, therefore we strive to meet them where they are and help them form authentic relationships on their journey.

Edge is not a classroom, but provides many opportunities for teens to be formed in their faith through socials and outings, retreats, weekly Edge nights, and more! Please see below for more details!

Weekly Edge nights are the core of the Edge program! Each week, teens encounter teachings of the Church in a way that is engaging and reaches them where they are.

A typical Edge night includes:
 

• Gather: Students come together and encounter the topic of the night followed by a game or challenge.

 

• Proclaim: Teens hear the main teaching of the night in an engaging way through speakers, videos, skits, and other aids. These teachings aren’t long and boring but relate to the students and their lives.

 

• Break: Following the Proclaim, teens break into small groups to continue the discussion and talk about how it can be applied to their lives. Our small groups at Edge are always grade and gender specific so that the teens' needs are intentionally met.

 

• Send: At the end of the night teens come together for final remarks, announcements, and closing prayer.

Though this is the typical format, it will vary from time to time according to the lesson. We want our teens to truly understand the lesson, and sometimes this means we need to go a different route.

Retreats are powerful experiences where students encounter Christ in a new way. They allow teens to take a step out of their everyday life to have fun and encounter Christ.

Retreat Opportunities

• Saturday, December 5: Advent Retreat (Flyer and waiver available soon)
• Saturday, March 20: Lenten Retreat (Flyer and waiver available soon)

Each retreat begins at 10 am in Parish Hall and ends with a family potluck following 5:30 pm Mass!

OTHER EVENTS

One of our goals in Edge is to build community, and one of the best ways to do this is through fun! Throughout the semester we have some social Edge nights built in, but we also love to have special events and outings. Mark your calendar for these fun opportunities!
