Boy Scout Troop 358, that meets at the parish, is reaching a milestone this Fall - their 90th anniversary! To celebrate the occasion, they will be hosting a special gala on Saturday, November 9, in Parish Hall at 6 p.m.
As a way to celebrate the history of the organization as well as the scouting activity, Troop 358 is asking the local community to search their attics and basements for old Boy Scout memorabilia and photos that could be used at their gala event.
“It is so exciting to meet former boy scouts and scout leaders who were active members of our troop which was chartered in 1923,” said John Wiebke, Scoutmaster for Troop 358, “We know the community is rich with stories and memorabilia of how the boy scouts operated so long ago."
The theme for the event is “Where Tradition Meets the Future,” and will focus on the youth of the community and their hopes and dreams as they plan for the future. Bill Stanczykiewicz, President and CEO of the Indiana Youth Institute, will be the keynote speaker during the gala celebration.
If you have an item or old photos that you think might be of interest for this special occasion, please call 769-7963 or drop the memorabilia off at the parish office.
Tickets to Troop 358 gala celebration are $75 per person, and include a served dinner for all guests. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund a college scholarship for Troop 358 Eagle Scout. You may order tickets now by calling 615-584-6800 or email lads624@bellsouth.net.
