This annual "Pre-Lenten" Party has become a popular parish tradition!
When: Saturday, March 1 from 7 to 11 p.m.
Live Music! One of Indianapolis' most prized dance bands will light up the night with popular hits to keep your feet moving. Come enjoy live music entertainment by The Aberdeen Project Band - voted on Indy's "A" List for Best Music.
Where: Parish Hall
Who: Adults 21 years and older
Tickets: Tickets are $10 each if purchased early at the Parish Office or following Mass the weekends of Feb. 15/16 and 22/23. Tickets may also be purchased at the event for $15. Admission includes drinks.

Food & Drink: Tickets offer access to beer, wine and soda refreshments. As a long-standing tradition, party guests also bring a favorite dish to share: A-M appetizer or N-Z dessert. You will see where to drop off your tasty treat when entering the hall.

What is Mardi Gras anyway? Good question! With roots dating back centuries, Mardi Gras (French for "Fat Tuesday") was recognized for a number of reasons, including the final day families would feast on stored food so that it would not spoil during the forty days of fasting. Remember, Catholics used to abstain from all meat everyday during Lent. Also, many community Mardi Gras celebrations, oftentimes called "Carnival," commenced around this pre-Lenten period as a way to experience feasting and fun with neighbors. Here's an interesting fact: in Latin, carne vale means "farewell to flesh."
