Third Edition of the Roman Missal
![]() |
How are you doing with some of the new changes? It is certainly okay if, by habit, your brain causes you to use past responses. Just remember, it's still the same Mass, and in time you'll be a pro again!
Since the new edition gives a richer meaning to the Mass and highlights the Liturgy's deep Scriptural roots, we wanted to have a place online to help you through the changes and learn more about the liturgy. Use this webpage to find resources from the United State Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB.org) and other pages to help learn more about the liturgy and grasp the chants and responses. Plus, be sure to use the Mass guides in the pews each week.
So remember - same Mass, richer meaning. This is an exciting experience to celebrate together! If you have any additional questions, please feel to call the parish office at 317.873.2885.
"And with your spirit." - When stating, “The Lord be with you,” the priest expresses his desire that the dynamic activity of God’s spirit be given to the people of God, enabling them to do the work of transforming the world that God has entrusted to them. In return, the people assure the priest of the same divine assistance of God’s spirit and, more specifically, help for the priest to use the charismatic gifts given in ordination to fulfill his prophetic function in the Church.
Will the musical parts of the Mass change? The hymns we sing will not change. Some parts of sung responses are different. These include the Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Mystery of Faith and dialogue responses. The Great Amen and the Lamb of God will not change.
